Telefonica wanted to introduce a new employee recognition scheme for its work force, to complement the launch of the new corporate strategy. Telefonica’s values and culture focuses on the belief that the possibilities of technology should be open to everyone.

We worked with Telefonica to create a recognition scheme that echoed these values, as well as encouraging peer-to-peer communication and recognition across the business – anytime, anywhere.

Our Approach

We scoped, developed, built and delivered a user-centric web app for smartphones, tablets and PCs that could be used everywhere. It allowed employees to upload pictures and videos, and to comment, share, like and see each other’s profiles.

The peer-to-peer reward and recognition web app worked with the company’s internal social network (Yammer), so users didn't have to log in because they were already online. It also saved time and money in development because no new platform or logins had to be made.

The new employee recognition programme was launched in conjunction with O2’s fresh corporate strategy, which focuses on the values of discover, disrupt and deliver.


Immediate high adoption with over 4,000 users in the UK alone and has been used year on year. The tool was then extended to encourage nominations for the company’s annual awards.

What Avvio Reply delivered was a technology-led-project enhanced with a keen brand experience eye. The whole process was a collaborative one and the end result is a fantastic internal tool that we may roll out across the entire organisation.
